Help Me Decide

Seeing as this will be Bri's very first Halloween, I really want to dress her as cute as possible. So far, these are the options I have come up with.

1) Bumblebee (my personal favourite)

2) Ladybug

And if my husband had his way, he'd be dressing her up as Yoda. Not cool, not cool at all. I don't think he understands that she is a girl, and therefor needs a costume that reflects that. Oh, how he has some things to learn.I am leaning towards the bumblebee, but for the cost of these costumes, I seriously wish I was more crafty. Etsy certainly makes money off those who can't craft, and that definitely includes me. :P

4 Months!

Already a third of the way to 1 year, O - M - G! Truly, she is growing up too fast! I need this to slow down, seriously. She had her shots on Tuesday and she did wonderfully. She took them like a big girl and only cried after the initial poke for both of them. I'm not going to lie, she did let out some seriously loud cry and her entire face went beat red but as soon as they were done, the nurse distracted her with some noisy toys and all was well in the world again. I love this little girl so much, it just breaks my heart that she has to get these every few months. In other news, at our last pedi appointment we were told we could go ahead and start her on solids this month. Well, we decided to wait until at least 5 months as we aren't ready, and she seems to be getting enough from my breastmilk for the time being. Now, onto the fun stuff. This month, Bri is:
  • Weighing in at 15lbs, 7oz & 26in (87th & 97th percentiles)
  • Constantly smiling, laughing and cooing to everyone and anything
  • Moved up to 3-6 month clothing, with the exception of some 0-3 which still fit and wearing 6 month sleepers because she is just so long!
  • Sleeping more and more in her crib
  • Can now pick up toys and put them directly into her mouth. It needs to be tasted before she can decide if she likes it don't you know ;)
  • Laughs every now and then, still not a regular occurrence, but squeals all the time... I must not be hilarious enough for her
  • Still loves her baths and going in the pool. She is my little water baby
  • Can do "crunches". She likes to lay on her back and bring her head up and forward, looks like she is doing crunches and her tummy muscles are all tight. She's going to have a 6 pack by the time she's a year old!
  • Is able to sit up for a couple seconds while supporting herself before she starts to topple over. Pretty sure she will be sitting all on her own pretty soon.
  • Will stand if you hold onto her hands and will take a couple steps before her legs give out on her...scary!!! I am not ready for this!
And now for the monthly pictures!

She quickly got bored with the picture taking and started to roll around in the chair. I had to take the last picture once we were back home from the cottage. She was all smiles for that one. It's getting harder and harder to get decent, non-blurry pictures of her with all the moving she does.

A Week At The Cottage...

And I forgot to pack my camera :(

Beyond upset with myself right now. Boo! Oh well, I did get a couple of shots of her on the cell phone, but only the blurry kind. Double boo!

Be prepared for a bunch of posts, I'm playing catch up.

Exhaustion!

Being new parents, we've had to adjust to a few things, and lack of sleep would be one of them. Since the beginning, she has been pretty consistent with her sleeping at night. She usually goes down anywhere between 7 and 8, then wakes for a snack around 11, then again at 3, and then is up between 7 and 8. We were happy about this, it allowed us enough sleep in the breaks to function.

Within the last couple weeks, things have changed. We still put her down around the same time but some nights she refuses to sleep. She cries, and cries, and cries her pretty little eyes out until she stops and you're sure she can't cry anymore...then cries so more! I dread putting her to bed at night now, it just isn't a good experience for either of us. She fights sleep when I know she wishes she was fast asleep in her crib, she cries when I know all she wants is to be dreaming, I am not sure what to do. A couple of times she has not gone down til midnight...that makes for a very long stretch of awake time.

And if that wasn't bad enough, she also wakes to snack at 2am, 3am, 4am, 5am and then is up for the day at 6. I need my sleep, I need it to keep my sanity, this isn't working. I am hoping she is going through the 4 month wakeful early? I really hope that is what it is, at least then that means there will be an end in sight.

Her naps during the day have dwindled as well. She used to be an awesome napper. I would place her in her swing when she started fussing, usually every 3-4 hours, then she would sleep in there for a good hour or two, sometimes three. It allowed me to get so much done around the house, prepare meals, have some 'me' time. Not so much now. Oh how I miss those days. Please tell me it gets better, I need it to get better.

When she hits 4 months, we will be doing some sleep training with her, but for now, I would just like her old sleep pattern back!

Laughs

Sunday was the first time I heard her give a real laugh. We were playing on my bed and I was making little piggy sounds into her neck and she started to laugh. They were the kind that make you laugh when you hear them. It was super cute.

Here are some pictures of that special moment.

Weekend Firsts

Let me introduce you to the Sassy Seat. My daughter loves this thing! I am so happy that I convinced Clinton we needed to get this for her. She loves to be held up, and this does it for us without having her be in our arms. I love that I can put her in it in the morning when I am doing my hair and makeup. It can keep her entertained and happy for a good 30 minutes. Love this!!

Oh, and can we talk about how cute she is when she is making out with the mirror. This girl loves her reflection! She went all out the first time she saw her face in the mirror and full on sucked that thing for a good 5 minutes all while squealing and laughing. I only wish I had gotten it on video.

Also, I went for a walk with my friend and Brianna sat in her stroller without the car seat! She is getting so big, she loved being in there looking out the front instead of always just looking up at me.
