Beautiful Fall Day

We took some pictures of Brianna with the pumpkins we had bought to carve up for Halloween since there are no pumpkin patches anywhere near us. She refused to look at the camera for more than a second, but at least the weather was beautiful.

Spoke Too Soon

I tried to feed her solids last night around dinner time instead of her regular mid-morning breakfast. I'm not sure if she just decided that that was the day she would start to enjoy carrots, or if the time had anything to do with it, but she couldn't get enough and I couldn't feed her fast enough. She didn't fight me one bit. She was all smiles and by the end of her meal, was covered in bright orange mush. Let's hope things continue in this direction.

Wordless Wednesday

Look What I Can Do!

And this is the way to give a mother a heart attack! Seriously, how did she learn to pull herself up and stand all on her own so soon?? The crib has officially been lowered.

Solids so far...

have not been going all that well. We are still only getting a couple spoonfuls into her mouth before she has a full out fit and wants out of the highchair. This is alot harder than I anticipated it to be. I thought by waiting until she was 6 months old, she would be more ready and accepting of the food, as well as my other reasons for wanting to wait. Not so much. She loathes apples and carrots, doesn't mind rice cereal and still adores breast milk above all else. Hopefully she starts to like them, even just a little would be nice at this point.

Here are some pictures of her first try at solids.

The Start of Solids!

So we started solids on Sunday. I'm not really sure what she thinks so far.

We started off with the staple first food, rice cereal mixed with some breastmilk. First day was just OK, second day seemed to go horribly, and the third day went really well. Proud of how well she was progressing, I went out and bought some organic apples and carrots to make my own purees. After 2 hours of peeling, chopping, boiling, blending and dividing, my little trays of delicious fruits and veggies were ready for the freezer.

Enter this morning when we moved along to pureed apples, my babe HATES apples. I mean, you put a little spponful into her mouth and she immediately pushes it back out and makes a sour face. You'd think the sweet tasting sauce was lemon juice! So disappointed. I only hope they start to grow on her. Who doesn't like apples???

I hope to do 3 days on each new food, and if no bad reaction, move onto the next. I'm hoping to get to all the fruits and veggies that are good this time of year. I'd prefer to stay local and organic for as much as I can, but realize being in Northern BC limits me quite a bit.

I'll post the sour face video tomorrow as I think it is hilarious. I can see it coming out at her wedding one day too. lol

Crawling

Sorry about the super crappy quality, it was on my camera and not the camcorder.

6 Months Old!!!!

How did this happen?? My itty bitty baby is half a year old! I swear I was just being admitted to the hospital like yesterday. So crazy, the last month has just flown by! I need to find a way to slow down or freeze time.

In the last month, we have experience all sorts of new and exciting milestones, so let's get to that.
  • You are currently 17lbs, 13oz and 27in...following your growth curve quite nicely (and I thought you weren't getting enough from me, ha!)
  • You can wear anywhere between 0-3, 3-6 and 6-9 month clothing
  • You started doing the army crawl as of last week, and with each passing day, you become stronger, faster and more confident in this new ability
  • You are still 100% on breastmilk, but will be starting rice cereal this weekend (I am both excited and saddened by this one)
  • You still love your baths. It is probably the one time during the day where you are all smiles from start to finish
  • You are still my toothless baby. Some days I swear I can feel some bumps on your lower gum, and then others I feel nothing.
  • You are a champion sitter. You hardly ever topple over these days.

We are loving this new stage that you are in right now. You are such a happy baby, love to explore now that you are mobile, and get into things you shouldn't. We need to start baby proofing the living room and your room. I caught you staring down the outlets the other day and slowly moving towards them. Not cool! We are off to shop for your high chair this week, and get you started on solids this weekend. Hopefully you do well and love the new flavours and textures.

Sleep is something that we have to work on. You have been co-sleeping with us since we took you home from the hospital. You sleep well in your crib for naps but need to get you in there full time. I'm also excited to finish off your nursery, the progress pretty much came to a halt when we had you. I will post pictures of that when it is all decorated and complete.

And now, here are some pictures of you on this 6 month birthday!

And because I am a nerd...

Happy Thanksgiving!

We celebrated yesterday and had a wonderful evening filled with friends, laughter and delicious foods. Here are a couple pictures of my little girl on Thanksgiving. The first being before our guests arrived, she was just chilling out on the couch pantless. The last 2, she hardly ever stops moving so I didn't get any great ones but at least I will have some pictures of her in her pretty dress. I'm sad we didn't get any of the 3 of us all together, will have to remember to get one at Christmas!

And today, we have a crawler!

I couldn't believe it when I saw it, even with my own eyes, I thought they were playing tricks on me. Brianna decided that she so badly wanted the soother she had tossed to the other side of her blanket that she shimmied her little body all the way towards it to grab it. I hadn't been paying enough attention to how she got there so I moved it again to see. She really did make her way over there, no rolls, just pulling herself forward. So proud of my little Bibi today, no one can wipe the smile from my face! :) Hopefully, I can get her new talent on camera at some point and put it up.

Laughter

Tonight was a great end to an absolutely horrible day. It has been rather loud in our house the last couple days. Our baby has decided to not take naps, cry excessively and scream at the top of her lungs. And did I mention there is absolutely nothing we can do to comfort her? I have tried every trick in the book, and nothing! I feel so horrible, and even more so for Clint who works nights and sleeps during the day, which is when all this fun stuff takes place.

Anyways, tonight after her bath, she was having her regular old naked time on the blanket. I don't remember how it came about, but Clint and I started talking about cheese and for some reason the word cheese was absolutely hilarious to Bibi. She laughed and laughed and laughed. It was the best sound ever, and every so often she let out this little snort too. ::dies of cuteness that is my child:: My only regret with all this, I didn't have the video camera anywhere near us to capture the moment. Bummer. Insert sad, pouty face here :(
